Staying Active!

Updated: Oct 24, 2023

We all know that staying active only proves to be beneficial to the mind and body but in the summer it can be that much more entertaining. Living in the Cayman Islands provides access to beautiful beaches and other great facilities. Below are some fun activities to consider whenever you want to get that heart pumping:

If you have access to a pool, Water Polo is a great game to play. It consists of two teams of at least three people competing to get the ball into the opposing team’s goal in order to receive points. Simply place a net on both ends of the pool. This game is played entirely in the water. The upper body is strengthened, endurance is built and it teaches you to work as a team.

Teen Summit hits the beach for team-building games with campers.

If you like to be out in the open water the following boating activities may appear exciting for you. Water Skiing is a surface water sport in which an individual is pulled behind a boat and skimming the surface of the water. Remember to wear a life vest even if you can swim! If you want a more tranquil experience, the following can be alternatives for you. Fishing with a friend or family member can be a great way to bond and later you can come together to enjoy a delicious meal. Snorkeling and Scuba Diving allow you to see the beautiful ocean life beneath us.

Teen Summit campers enjoy a surprise water-balloon fight; another option to beat the heat!

Picnic packing will allow you to simply bring your favorite foods; and even games to have a gathering with your friends and family (even neighbours) at a scenic location. Bring your beach/picnic blankets and music so you’ll have a clean place to sit on and the vibe will be nice. This is a lively way to get up and going whilst socializing and getting acquainted with the people you live near.

We all love a bit of mystery so why not do a Treasure Hunt? First choose a location, then a theme and format the hunt based off those things. People of all ages can participate but if you’re hosting and there are kids, make sure to have kid-appropriate prizes. Don’t stay inside your house all summer! Get out and try one or some of these activities. Not everything might appeal to you but don’t knock it until you try it.

Prefer staying on dry land? Kickball is another great game to try. Teen Summit participants competed against their camp counselors.
