Rayne Harding | Culture

I entered the cultural scene after performing my first-ever folk song in the National Children’s Festival of the Arts (NCFA) in primary school with my classmates. I recognised my joy for the Performing Arts as I was exposed to dancing and singing with Spark! School of Performing Arts. After a Gold Winning performance at the NCFA, I was offered a Vocal Scholarship at Spark! while continuing to pursue Viola with the Cayman Arts Festival (CAF). Since then, I have practiced and performed singing and playing my instrument for various occasions, including culturally.

Over my years involved in culture, I have received 14 awards from NCFA, with 1 being Bronze, 2 being Silver, and 11 being Gold Certificates. Additionally, I have participated in the Youth Tourism Ambassador Competition in 2023, and I received the title of Cayman Youth Tourism Ambassador for that year. This allowed me to attend the CTO Youth Congress Tourism Speak-Off as a contestant. I have also vocally performed at a variety of national events, which include Heroes Day and Emancipation Day. As a result of my outstanding vocal performance, I was briefly recognised as a Young Musician of the Year finalist.

Currently, I continue to perform nationally, as just recently I performed with the Cayman National Orchestra at the Harquail Theatre. Before this, I was asked to perform the National Song at the Regional Symposium & Policy Dialogue on Transforming Education held at the beginning of October. Moving forward, I plan to use my gifts to bring the community together through my cultural involvement and to create a stronger bond within the Cayman Islands as a whole.

I became a certified Scuba Diver at 12 years old through the Cayman Islands Cadet Corps. Additionally, I enjoy doing community service to bring the community together as one family. However, if there’s one thing that you should absolutely know about me, it’s that I truly love uncovering hidden gems within our culture and learning about our history.
